Let your (motion-activated) light shine!

I have a friend who is a gifted photographer who asked for my input on some images she’s putting on her web site. This is kind of comical to me. If I asked a kindergartener to critique my blogs, that gives a pretty good picture of how worthy my opinion is when it comes to professional photography. Nonetheless, it was my privilege to help.

I was trying to explain why the movement in a certain image wasn’t speaking to me. Words are my forte and I hate when they fail me, but being photographically illiterate, I finally just grabbed a link to another photo of hers that did demonstrate what I was trying to say. “Like this one,” I told her.

Happily, she’s brilliant enough to know what I meant.

Words tell; motion shows.

Not taken by my brilliant friend (obviously).

It’s like my night lights. My husband bought some motion sensor night lights for me so that when I’m creeping up the stairs after midnight, I don’t have to grope around in the dark. I love those things so much that I want to get one for every available outlet so the whole house will illuminate as I walk through.

Psalm 119:105 says God’s word is “a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” I’m thinking that when Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16), He was essentially telling us that our light is also motion activated.
